Moving Forward

Christmas Eve is a great time to get together with families, friends and loved ones. It’s a good time to catch up with each other and share happiness, since almost throughout the year we are all being busy with our work and other important things that we need for our lives.

However the greatest thing about Christmas is its true meaning, when salvation is born into the world. As the scripture says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave is only begotten son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

If we have to stop and think about the true reason we are giving gifts to our children, it is because we loved them. ‘LOVE’ is the greatest gift of all. When there is ‘love’ there is ‘peace’, and when there is ‘peace’ there is ‘hope’ and when there is ‘hope’, there is ‘forgiveness’ and when there is ‘forgiveness’, there is ‘happiness’.

If you are reading this blog and you know that you have a problem with your parents or your wife or your husband, or your children, this is what I want you to do, swallow your pride and go to your family and say sorry.

I can assure you that reconciliation will change your life today. Shouldering the burden of the past will not help you to become a better person, but will take you nowhere, that is why Apostle Paul in the Bible said “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13,14

The keyword I want to share with us here today is where Apostle Paul said: “But this is one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before”.

Simply Apostle Paul is telling us today to forget those things that we have done in the past and let us move forward, because there is nothing we can do to change the past. I like what the former President of South Africa Mr. Nelson Mandela would like to say about forgiveness and their past.

He said: “Forgiveness liberates the soul, and it removes fear, and that is why it is such a powerful weapon”. If I am correct, I am sure this is what he also said “What is rebate is rebate, the past is the past, and we look to the future now”.

My dear friend let us not allow the sun to go down on us before we can say sorry, but let us have the courage to say sorry and be reunited with our families, friends and loved ones.

GOD bless you and have a wonderful festive season.
